Did you know....

Coughing could be a sign of Inflammatory Airway Disease (IAD) - which was recently found to be prevalent in 84% of horses*

How does it show itself?

Coughing is the obvious sign but there are other signs of IAD if he isn't coughing**:

• Nasal discharge
• Increased respiratory rate (which is difficult to spot!)
• Increased respiratory effort
• Flaring of the nostrils
• Respiratory noise (even at rest)
• Poor recovery
• Lower performance

Why does it matter?

IAD can be detrimental to the horse’s comfort and can hinder performance.

How can Haygain help?

Taking steps to minimise exposure to the airborne respirable dust will undoubtedly reduce the risk of Equine Asthma.

The dust in hay is a key cause of respiratory inflammation. Steaming hay with a Haygain hay steamer eliminates respirable dust particles, killing mould, bacteria, fungal spores and mite faeces.

Reducing stable dust and ammonia off-gasing is also important. Haygain's ComfortStall sealed, orthopaedic flooring system reduces bedding requirements by up to 75% and being sealed and hydrophobic removes harmful ammonia gasses caused by urine.

What people say about Haygain steamers...

HG Go :

"A little gem. Love it completely. We can travel away to competitions without any worries. Super portable and does the job just like its big brother back home in the yard."

HG 600 :

"Fantastic. I have had my Haygain steamer just over 2 years and absolutely love it. If I give my horses dry hay it makes them cough but when they have steamed hay the coughing stops. I wouldn't be without it."

HG 2000 :

"Brilliant! Wish we had bought one sooner. The horses love it! Horses which you used to be on soaked hay for health reasons, do very well on the steamed hay. Very economical on water compared to soaking and so easy to use. Would never go back to soaking. A fantastic product, Thank You!"
